THERAPISSED - 2023

WdKA project

THERAPISSED is a band form ed by 5 students from WdKA. The assignment was to form a band within 5 weeks. Next to just forming a band we also had to write a song, create a logo, come up with merchandise, create a musicvideo and last but not least we had to perfofm at theatre Walhalla in Rotterdam.

Once upon a time, 'Therapissed' was a rising band, one among the countless others, yet painfully relevant in today's rapidly growing community of young enthusiasts. The conception of their debut in the music scene sprouted from the convergence of five individuals who had been employed at a mass-production retail store akin to Action or Solow. They shared a mutual discontent for the consumerist wares lining the store shelves, having experienced the daily ebb and flow of mediocre products and the peculiar behaviors of those purchasing these less-than-stellar items. As time progressed, their collective focus became apparent - a shared frustration with the world at large. The members of 'Therapissed' became both adored and reviled figures, serving as purveyors of a constant reality check.

Their mission was to present their perspectives on the world through the lens of humor and satirical performances, aiming to offer an alternative, less pessimistic viewpoint on contemporary issues. Their chosen method involved the development of theatrical and performative pieces, where they would dress up in exaggerated costumes that reflected the subject they were addressing, using speculative design as their primary visual language. They coined themselves as 'Conceptual Performance Artists' and established themselves as an experimental trip-hop band.

Their recent release, 'Sacred $ellout', serves as a precursor to their upcoming single, promising a hard-hitting track that offer ominous yet amusing social commentary, incorporating a fusion of trip-hop and experimental rap. While the specifics of their second album remain unknown, 'Sacred $ellout' undoubtedly delves deeply into the topic of consumerism.

How far down this rabbit hole 'Therapissed' will venture remains to be seen, but one thing is certain - the world eagerly anticipates yet another dose of reality. The origin story of 'Therapissed' is a subject often debated among music enthusiasts, as the band members themselves remain highly reclusive. However, intriguing rumors about their origins continue to circulate.
